Seminar 1: Phlebotomy Theory

Classroom Lecture | 24 hours

Phlebotomy Theory will prepare you with the skills, knowledge, and ability needed to provide safe, quality venipunctures and dermal punctures.

Seminar Objectives
  • Describe the role of the phlebotomist
  • Explain regulations regarding workplace safety and operational standards
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding protected health information (PHI)
  • Accurately identify the patient
  • Obtain consent

Seminar 2: Phlebotomy Laboratory

Hands-On Training | 24 hours
Phlebotomy Laboratory training will prepare you with hands-on, guided practice to provide safe, quality venipunctures and dermal punctures for accurate diagnostic test results.

Seminar Objectives
  • Infection control
  • Dermal punctures using microhematocrit tubes
  • Identify and prepare an acceptable site
  • Determine the needed supplies and equipment
  • Follow the order of draw
  • Ensure patient safety by recognizing and responding to potential complications
  • Palpating using a tourniquet
  • Properly perform venipunctures and dermal punctures
  • Identify and dispose of sharps and biohazards according to OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard
  • Properly balance the centrifuge
  • Prepare peripheral blood smears
  • Live sticks, dermal punctures & routine venipuncture

  • Routine venipuncture of the antecubital fossa – 18 hours

Exam Preparation | 12 hours 

Our Phlebotomy Review will prepare you with the necessary knowledge needed to pass the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam.
